Track & Field

We take part in various track & field competitions, both for juniors and adults, and encourages all standards of runners to take part. While we are in several leagues our athletes also compete in various open competitions as well as different championships from County, Midland and right through to National level

In the seniors we are members of the Midland Track & Field League, which was formed in 2008 following the merger of the separate men’s and women’s leagues. This has been very successful and our team is a mixture of specialist track athletes who have come from the junior ranks and other, slightly older athletes.

The youngsters take part in the Heart of England League which caters for under 11, 13, 15 and 17 age groups and provides excellent competition and is also a great introduction to different competitions for the younger age groups.

In 2008 we took part in the newly formed Warwickshire U11 League. The objective of the League is to provide appropriate competition for the 8-10 age groups (U/9, U/10, U/11 or school years 3, 4, 5). The aim is to permit and encourage participation in an enjoyable sport – development will come naturally. This League is used to introduce athletes to the concept of competition in a sporting and well mannered climate. It emphasises the importance of team competition as well as individual achievements.

One innovation in this league is that it will, as much as possible, use parents as officials so as to train not only the athletes of the future but also the technical officials of the future.
