The club is a British Triathlon Federation (BTF) registered club and welcomes triathletes of all abilities who wish to train and compete with like minded souls
Apart from the swim and bike sessions we organise ourselves, we recommend bike training with Stratford Cycle Club, www.stratfordcc.co.uk, and swim training with Kenilworth Masters www.kenilworthmasters.co.uk. Many of our triathletes are members of these clubs as well.
We organise a club triathlon competition each September. The sprint format race consists of a 400m swim, 20km bike and 5km run. It is based at Warwick Boys School, Myton Road, Warwick.
Although it's a competition, the emphasis is on taking part and having fun (yes, believe it or not triathlon is actually fun). So even if you can only do breaststroke and only have a basic commuting bike, you can still take part. Most of the active triathletes in the club will be helping marshal so you won't see lots of flash looking kit to worry about!
We regularly compete at the BTF club relays at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham each August.
If you would like to find out more please contact the Triathlon Secretary, Steve Kirk, at tri@stratfordac.co.uk.
Spring swim training sessions have been organised with Ian Lole from Trafeco at Warwick Boys School, Myton Road, Warwick.
Following the same successful format as last year, each session will start with some basic theory to get us thinking about what we are (supposed to be) doing, followed by 60 mins in the pool with some technique drills and an opportunity for some one-to-one coaching from Ian.
To benefit from these sessions, you need to be able to swim 400m of front crawl reasonably comfortably. This is NOT a 'learn to swim' session but equally, its not a 3km set either.
If you would like to come along please contact Steve. Each session starts at 2.30pm and the dates planned are:
Cost is approx £5 per person, depending on numbers.
Bank Holiday Mondays are perfect opportunities for a bit of extra bike training. Join us at 9.00am for a 50-80km steady ride (about 20km/h) through the Warwickshire country lanes. Start and finish at the sports club.
